DEFINITIONS

Translator: a person who translates written messages from one language to another.

Proofreader: someone who reads proof in order to find errors and mark corrections.

Editor: a person who edits written material for publication.

CV: an outline of a person's educational and professional history, usually prepared for job applications .

Computer-assisted translation, computer-aided translation(CAT): a form of translation wherein a human translator translates texts using computer software designed to support and facilitate the translation process.

Please send your cover letter, CV, and short samples of your work to the above e-mail only. You may also be asked to complete a short test. Please make sure you meet the following requirements.

Translator requirements:
  • advanced degree (preferably language-related) is a must;
  • second advanced degree (in a technical field) is welcome;
  • at least 3 years’ work experience as a translator;
  • reading proficiency in Russian and/or Ukrainian;
  • fluency in English and/or German;
  • computer proficiency;
  • knowledge of translation and localization tools (Trados, Transit, Passolo, Logoport, etc.) or interest in learning them;
  • reliable and permanent Internet connection.
Proofreader/Editor requirements:
  • advanced degree (preferably language-related) is a must;
  • second advanced degree (in a technical field) is welcome;
  • at least 3 years’ work experience as proofreader;
  • reading proficiency in Russian and/or Ukrainian;
  • sufficient knowledge of English and/or German to make changes in a Russian and/or Ukrainian translation based on the source text;
  • ability to see mistakes;
  • computer proficiency;
  • knowledge of translation and localization tools (Trados, Transit, Passolo, Logoport, etc.) or interest in learning them;
  • reliable and permanent Internet connection.
