Our Work Process
We use the following process to ensure a high-quality translation:
- Preparation stage. Compilation of glossaries of words and phrases that appear frequently in the source text, either with Trados Multiterm Extract or manually. Translation and proofreading of these words and phrases even before the translation is begun. This will help to avoid translation inconsistencies among linguists collaborating on the project. The client has the option of approving these terms.
- Desktop publishing and various format conversions (optional). This can also be done after translation.
- Translation with daily deliverables to track progress and perform initial proofreading. We use the largest English and German to Russian online dictionary (Multitran), a great number of Lingvo dictionaries, Google to search for correct usage of terminology, Microsoft glossaries for software localization projects, Proz.com Kudoz glossaries and forums, various forums for translators, CAT tool translation memories accumulated in similar projects, etc.
- Review of translation by our proofreader. This can be either a linguistic proofreading, a technical one, or both (depending on project requirements). The proofread files are sent back to the translators for confirmation of corrections. If any controversial issues arise they are discussed with our SME's or client.
- QA checks:
If Trados was used: checks with Trados 2007 QA tools.
If SDLX was used: checks with SDLX 2007 QA tools.
If Logoport was used: checks with Logoport QA tools.
And so on. - QA checks with Aspic Xbench QA tool for inconsistencies in 100% matches, numerical mismatches, checklist of important terms.
- Post-translation check of inconsistencies in fuzzy matches with Multiterm Extract.
- Cleaning up of files (if a CAT tool was used), review of the cleaned files, polishing of the layout.
- Final QA: We run a final spell check and review to ensure the translation meets the client's requirements. We also use special QA software. It can check spelling and grammar, inconsistencies, punctuation, specific rules for the project, etc. simultaneously in multiple files, and generate reports.
